Graduation
September 17, 2009
I’ve never thought about graduating AiS. It felt like I was going to hang around there forever.
It was great just designing and not having to worry about graduating and just taking my time learning. Taking my time learning… Now it’s almost rushing myself to learn as much as I can, take advantage of things in the school as much as I can just to get as much out of my education before I graduate-which is next quarter.
I could be doing a BFA, but in this field it’s mainly the individual’s creativity, perseverance, and passion that drives someone to go far more than just a paper. Though, I do plan to take classes again to further my education and hopefully find time to slowly achieve a BFA at a different school.
I never want to plateau on creativity. Even though I want to concentrate my strength in print design and branding, I do want to experience a whole lot of different medium to bring in a different perspective of creative thought.
I’ve been nervous about graduating along with the BFA students, though I guess all I have to keep in mind is that it all really comes down to you as a person, and design work comes second.
Productivity
September 16, 2009
There’s no productivity for me some reason when I have a whole 10 weeks ahead of me to bust out 9 projects. I’ll spend some time concepting, but there’s really no drive to get it done. The only time I feel productive is when I’m getting a little nervous about failure. That’s the time I start thinking about how many hours is required to finish certain portions of a project and time managing effectively. I’m sure it’s not just me either.
Portfolio Case vs. Portfolio Binder
September 15, 2009
I’m spending a lot of money on print and boards and it’s almost like I might as well have my portfolio as a case rather than a binder. Although having a Binder is much more portable and portability is something that I’m more into. Or, on that side of portability, what I can do is bind a book together. I’m really not sure what to choose, but having a self-binded book sounds really nice. Or now that I’ve gotten started, for ultimate portability I may even set up a portfolio slideshow on my PSP. Nevermind…
On a second note, I’m having a hard time figuring out how to implement fade ins between roll overs. I may be able to ask for some help tomorrow.
